  1. Now I Get It!

    January 19, 2012 by Sharplisa

I’ve been obsessed with my blog traffic lately.  It’s wrong.  I know.  But this is what I have learned about my readership.

    1.  You love it when I’m miserable.  Posts about my nemesis and his partner in crime make you quite happy.  Maybe video of me falling on my face repeatedly would build readership…

    2.  You trust my opinion on certain things.  Smart people you are.  BTW, still using Relish! more than E-Mealz.

    3.  You hate my memes and polls.  Bummer.  I sort of love both of these things.

    4.  Are you liking the cooking tips?

Updates on other stuff:  20 Minute Challenge is mostly going well.  No major progress to celebrate but the areas that have been done are staying done which is great.  I am working on getting the kids to pick up after themselves without being a total bitch all the time.

Healthy:  Better.  I have made some progress dealing with difficult issues in my life and continue to do so.  I know if I plan and track my eating on Spark People, I have a better caloric intake day.  My dogs, pains that they are, would not stop whining until I walked them today.  So I did.  Me in my winter battle rattle, Bucky in his, using my new no-pull harnesses (meh) and the split lead so I can take both dogs on one leash.  It’s -6 degrees here today.  MINUS 6.  We walked two miles.  Three hours later and my thighs are still frozen.  Bucky is sunning himself by the back door.  Maddie is also napping.  Win.

Now  I have to get help writing a STRONGLY WORDED letter that I’ve been putting off since last summer. Or hiring a lawyer.

  3. 20 Minutes: Weekend Updates

    January 9, 2012 by Sharplisa

I took the weekend off from the blog but not from my blog challenges.  This post is to share the results of Saturday and Sunday’s 20 minute clutter busting projects:

Saturday, I attacked my children’s cesspool bathroom.  Wow was this gross.  It’s a small room, not all that cluttered but they don’t put things away ever.  So I did.

And then I cleaned the bathtub and toilet, wiped down counters and cleaned the mirror.  The vinyl on the mirror says “You’re the Best!”.  It is from a Cricut cartridge but don’t ask me which one off the top of my head.  Making one for you is one of the things I will do for Komen, so just ask.

Sunday, I tackled part of my dining room.  We have an open concept living area with a bar facing out to the dining room.  This section of counter is a major clutter magnet.  So is the dining room table.  You saw the pictures!  So I decluttered, sorted and tossed paper and other junk and wiped down the counters and table.  All that remains on the counter are two plants, a candy bouquet (another thing I will do for Komen, so ask!) and a candle holder from Ikea.  On the table:  Salt and pepper, a plant, a candle centerpiece and a bowl of fresh fruit.  I love it.

    Here are the after photos:

You may argue that a jacket on the chair is clutter, but this is Wisconsin and it gets cold.  The jacket is there for someone to grab as they take the dogs out.  It’s logical.

How did your 20 minutes go?

  4. Deep Breaths…

    January 6, 2012 by Sharplisa

Yesterday, I promised you “Before” pictures of my house.  Today, I find that I am very hesitant to post them.  But here goes.

I know, right?  Here I am this Lean expert with a house that looks like a war zone.  This is what kids, dogs, a husband with lots of gear, too many hobbies among too many people and depression do to your lean state.  I am thankful that I have hit the tipping point.

This clutter is not healthy so it will not fit in 2012.  As I said yesterday, I’m dedicating 20 minutes a day to clutter-busting.  Because I want my bedroom to be a sanctuary, I am starting in there.

    Here are the rules:

Gather your necessary supplies:  Cleaners, rags, trash bags, Goodwill box.

Set the timer for 20 minutes.  No more, no less.  This is focused time spent clutter busting.

Find a  place for everything and put everything in it’s place.

If it does not belong in that room, put it away in the room where it belongs.

If you don’t like it/wear it/ use it then toss it in the garbage or Goodwill box with no regrets.

Stop after 20 minutes and enjoy your success.

That being said, I am off to spend 20 minutes in my bedroom.  After pictures coming soon!

Don’t forget about the Gratitude giveaway I’m doing in partnership with Grammarly!  Which of my readers will win a $? Gift Card to spend at Amazon.com?
